Lately, I have been really trying to focus on carrying a smile through my yoga practice. It can be difficult sometimes to smile when you’re tired or don’t necessarily feel like holding a pose, but smiling through it all can make your practice more enjoyable. A smile can have a positive impact on the brain and body, bringing a calmness and positivity to your inner being. Also, being greeted by a smiling yoga teacher can really set the tone for a class and as yoga teachers it is so important to set that positive intention before the class begins so all class members feel connected and welcome. Something as simple as practicing a smile in your class will not only benefit you, but others around you, as well.
